Aced PokerBadugi, a variation of triple draw low ball is a four card game. The rules of playing badugi may look somewhat complicated to the beginners. But a careful observation of the game and practice helps the players to master the strategies of the game far better, you can also pick up tips while watching other players.

From the very beginning, the badugi poker tip would be to hold a badugi i.e. A-2-3-4 of different suits. In this game, a four card hand gets an edge over a three card hand; a three card hand gets an edge over a two card hand and so on.

A player needs to know the hand rankings thoroughly. In badugi, the ace cards are always considered to be a low card. The player holding the lowest value ace gets an upper hand. For e.g.:- a player holding 5-4-3-2 (a five badugi) would lose to a player holding 4-3-2-1 (a four badugi). In badugi the players sometimes bluff to create an impression that they possess a good hand. A player having a good hand must check out the fact who is bluffing.

Discarding a card in hand and drawing of a new card would give away the fact to the other players that the player possesses a bad hand. What makes this poker game interesting is the fact that seasoned players who possess a bad hand, does not go for a draw and therefore does not give out the least hint that he have a bad hand.

The number of players playing the badugi poker is often an important deciding factor. The important strategy to be kept in mind during the play is – if there are six players, then one must not play the two hand card or the three hand card. Playing of a two hand card or a three hand card is advisable if only there are two to three players.

Aced Poker

Sitting position at a badugi poker table often aids in deciding the winner. The winning strategy would be to opt for a sitting position where a player would have to play his cards at last. This would give him or her a basic idea about what cards other players have in hand and therefore play the cards accordingly. If he/she sees that other players before him/her have discarded a card that means they have a bad hand but if other players do not opt for a draw that means they have a very strong hand.
