Types of poker that are very popular

Poker is one of the popular games that is played, and it is played by people all over the world. There are so many different ways in which it can be played and there are even different versions of the same game. Here is a list of some of the popular types of poker.

One of the most popular types is the Texas Hold’em. Because of its popularity it is also known as the Cadillac of Poker. Two to ten players can play the game together. In Texas Hold’em each player is given two cards faced down and there are five cards faced up which is shared by all the players in the game. The players will use these cards to complete the five hand card. At the end of the round whoever has the highest card wins. This game has different versions like the pot limit version, limit version and no limit version.

Another version which is fast becoming very popular is Omaha. The rules are more or less similar to that of Texas Hold’em. It can be played in two versions – Omaha Hi and Omaha Lo. It can be played with maximum ten players. Here each player is given four cards instead of two cards as in Texas Hold’em and there are five cards facing up for the whole group.

Five card draw poker is a popular version of the game which is mostly played at home. The game can have a maximum of five players. This game needs a lot of skills and a player can lose easily. Five cards facing down are given to each player and the players can change his card if he wishes to or start betting.

Razz is a little bit different from the usual type of poker. Here the players try to get a loosing hand instead of rooting for the winning hand. Thus this game is preferred by those with bad luck. The game rules are similar to 7 Stud.

Triple draw version of poker is slowly becoming popular among the gaming community because it is fun to play and is action filled. You can make a lot of money if you can play this game properly. The game is similar to Razz. Here the players get five cards each following which betting is held.

Other than these there are several other kinds of pokers too which are popular among the players like the Caribbean Stud poker, 3-Card poker, Pineapple, Seven Card Stud which again has several versions and the Mexican Stud.
