Caribbean Poker
Caribbean poker is becoming a hot favorite for poker lovers all over the world. Whether it is in the real world or online world, the basic rules of the game are more or less similar in both mediums. The main object of this type of poker is to beat the five card poker hand of the dealer.
The winnings of players are determined by the poker hand possessed by them and whether they can beat the dealer’s hand. The more a player beats the poker hand, the greater his/her winning amount will be.
A player of Caribbean poker starts the game by putting the ante bet in the proper betting area. This particular ante is required to meet both the minimums and maximums of the table. After this is done, the poker player is dealt 5 cards face up while the dealer is dealt 4 cards face down and has his/her fifth card dealt face up.
In such a situation, the player has to make a decision of whether he/she should fold or raise. If one decides to fold then one loses the ante after which a new round would start. If one decides to raise, one has to double one’s bet and the dealer reveals his/her cards. The dealer has to qualify with a combination of Ace/King as the minimum. If the dealer is unable to qualify, then the player wins the ante bet automatically. However, the raised portion of the bet will be considered to be a push and has to be duly returned to the player.
On the other hand, if the dealer manages to qualify, the player’s hand will be compared to that of the dealer. If the player’s hand wins then he or she will have to be paid out in accordance to the chart of payout which can be checked by simply clicking on the button of “View Payouts”. Finally, if the hand of the player loses, then every bet, the raise and the ante, are all lost and a new round will start.
An interesting feature of the Caribbean poker is that of the progressive jackpot. A side bet is available to the player who plays outside the dealer’s hand. Irrespective of what the dealer’s hand contains or whether he/she qualifies or not, the player will always have a chance to win on the basis of the value of his/her hand. The player simply needs to possess a minimum of a flush so that he/she can win. This bet can be made by clicking on the button of On/Off that is placed to the right of the meter of the progressive jackpot. If the button displays “On”, the player will be eligible for participating in the jackpot but if it is on “off” mode then he/she will not be eligible.
